Random Words and Fractured Dreams: Surrealist Poetry

All year I’ve been working on a chapbook of surrealist poetry, created using social media, random word generators and captured and volunteered dreams.

The result has been described as “clever and subversive”, “easy and fun to read” and “WHOA!”

Sample pages.

Emily Dickinson said, “If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry”.

This is exactly what Random Words and Fractured Dreams: Surrealist Poetry does.

These 25 strange and arresting poems can almost be tasted, touched and certainly felt. They make a connection with the reader and they tell us of the times we live in and the often-hidden emotions we’re unable to feel.

And research tells us that the absurdity of surrealism can be therapeutic.

Lastly, the poems I have collected, constructed and curated are fascinating, unsettling, fun and thought-provoking.

The digital technologies used to make them has also highlighted a new way of creating poetry.

If you want a surreal reading experience, with a dusting of crazy, Random Words and Fractured Dreams: Surrealist Poetry is for you.
